GO TELL EVANGELISM
XII.
THE FACTS PRESENTATION
Simply
give out the “Am I Going To Heaven?” tract and say,
“Let me give you something good to read. I think you will find it
interesting.”
Almost
always the person you give the tract too will make one of these comments:
**********
(“What
is it”?)
"It
tells you what the Bible says about going to Heaven."
**********
(“Not
me, I wish”)
"You are going to like what it says"
**********
(“I
hope so”)
"I
am glad you said that because it will tell you how you can be sure of going to
Heaven?"
**********
(“I’ll
never make it”)
"A
lot of people think the same way as you do."
**********
(“no”)
"Would
you like to know how you can be sure of going to Heaven?
**********
(“yes”)
"Great,
How do you know that you are going to Heaven when you die?"
**********
Any
response is your opportunity to present the gospel.
Ask
the two Exploratory Questions.
First,
asked the "Certainty Question" -
“If
you died today, do you know for sure you are going to Heaven?”
Let
the person answer the “Certainty Question” before you asked the “Why
Question.”
Your
response will be one of three answers:
(“I
hope so”)
(“No”)
(“Yes”)
After
they tell you their answer – Ask the “Why Question.”
Even if they say, “yes.” A “yes” answer doesn’t always mean
that the person is saved. The person may “think” there going to Heaven
because they are trying to live a good life.
Now
asked the “Why Question” -
Let
me ask you another question.
If
you were to standing before God and He asked you, ‘Why should I let you into
Heaven?’ What would you say to
Him?”
Let
the person answer the “Why Question" before you share the gospel using
the facts presentation. The answer to the “Certainty Question” will help you
understand what the person is trusting in to get them to Heaven. The five
principles of the facts presentation will contain the Biblical answer to their
response.
Remember
that there are two ways to answer the “Why Question” –
The
wrong answer – What “I”
have done
=
Salvation by works
The
right answer – What “Christ”
has done
=
Salvation by grace
If
a wrong answer is given – let the person know you have some good news for
them. If you can relate to a wrong
answer given to you, say something like:
“I
do have some good news for you”
“I
used to believe if I had enough good works I would get into Heaven …”
I
used to think if I kept the ten commandment I would make it into Heaven …”
or
“I
used to believe the same thing about going to Heaven, until someone showed me
what the Bible said about it.”
Now
ask the Permission question:
“___________,
would you like to know what the Bible says about going to Heaven?”
(“Yes”)
“Great”
A
“yes” to the PERMISSION QUESTION gives you the opportunity to see the power
of God in action!
Now
it is time to share the information on the, “AM I Going To Heaven?” tract.
Stay with the
Facts presentation as you share the gospel.
Am
I Going To Heaven?
Some
people THINK that going to Heaven consist of:
* Keeping the Ten Commandments
* Doing Good Works
* Living a Good Life
* Church Membership
* Tithing or Giving to a Church
* Water Baptism
* Trying to Be a Better Person
All of these make sense, but
these actions, activities and good works are not requirements for eternal
life.
The Bible says, "Not
by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy
He saved us" (Titus 3:5).
There is nothing more wonderful
in life than discovering God's plan for eternal life. Discover the
F.A.C.T.S. for yourself, and you can KNOW for certain that you will
spend eternity with God.
Principle #1 is
realizing the
FREENESS OF HEAVEN.
The Bibles says, "...
The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans
6:23).
"For by grace
are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: It
is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians
2:8,9).
(THE GIFT ILLUSTRATION)
“What
if I gave you fifty dollars and said, go wash and wax my car.
Would that be a gift?”
(“no”)
“Your right. That would be
something you earned. A gift is
something given to you. The only
thing you do is accept it. It is
free!”
“It would be an insult to try
to pay someone after receiving a gift.”
“It is the same way with
knowing that your going to Heaven when you die.
Eternal Life is God’s gift to you.
There is not one thing we can do to earn it.
God gives it to us as a free gift because we could never do enough to
deserve it.”
There is not one thing you can
do to earn a place in Heaven. It is free! You can do nothing to earn
eternal life. It is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone that will get you
to Heaven.
According
to the Bible, God offers you:
LOVE
* JOY * PEACE * HAPPINESS
But unfortunately,
Principle #2 is
acknowledging the
AWFULNESS OF SIN.
“The
bad news is that we all have sin
The Bible says, "For
all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"
(Romans 3:23).
We all fall short of God's
perfect standard.
(THE SIN ILLUSTRATION)
“The
word, “sin” in the Bible means to miss the mark. In other words, God is
perfect and we are not.”
Suppose each of us pick up a
rock, and I say to you, Let’s see who can hit the North Pole. Well, you might
throw farther than I, or I might throw farther than you, but neither of us would
make it. Both of us would fall short of our target.”
“It is the same with God. He
is Holy and Righteous. It doesn’t matter how good we are.
Or how hard we try to be good. We
still can’t meet His perfect standard because “all of us have sinned, and
come short of His glory.”
“Every
human being that has lived or will live is a sinner. I am and you are. We all
have sinned.”
“The bad news gets worst
because the penalty for our sin is death.”
"For the wages
of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23).
(THE WAGE ILLUSTRATION)
“Suppose you
worked for me for a week and I paid you $500.00. That $500.00 was your wages.
That’s what you earned.”
“The Bible says that by
sinning, we have earned death. That means we deserve to die and be separated
from God for ever.”
We deserve death and Hell.
Fortunately,
Principle #3 is
recognizing the
CURE FOR SIN.
The Bible says, "Christ
died for our sins... and that He rose again on the third
day..." (I Corinthians 15:3,4).
"But God commendeth
His Love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us" (Romans 5:8).
(THE DYING OF CANCER
ILLUSTRATION)
“Suppose
you were dying with cancer, and I could changed places with you. Somehow I could
take all the cancer cells from your body and put them into my body.
What
would happen to me?”
(“You would be the one
dying”)
“I would be dying in your
place.”
“What
would happen to you?”
(“I would live”)
“That’s right. You would
live because I change places with you. The Bible says Christ took the penalty
that we deserved for sin, placed it upon Himself, and died in our place. Three
days later He came back to life to prove that sin and death had been conquered
and that His claims to be God were true.”
"For He (God)
hath made Him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (II
Corinthians 5:21).
(THE HAND ILLUSTRATION)
“Let
my left hand (hold up your left hand) represents you and me, and my right hand
(hold it up) represents God. This
piece of paper (the tract) represents sin.
We all have sin on us. (point
to the tract). God loves us (point to your left hand), but hates our sin (point
to the tract). Our sins separates us from God (put your left and right hand
close together with the tract in the middle separating the two). We can’t get
rid of our sins by doing good works. Someone has to pay the price.
(Hold up you right hand and
say) Christ has no sin. He was perfect. He
took all of our sins (transfer the tract from your left hand to your right hand)
and became sin for us. He changed places with us. He became our substitute and died on the cross to
save us. He took our sins and when we by faith put our trust in Him, - He gives
us His perfect righteousness and saves us.”
"But to him that
worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly his
faith is counted for righteousness" (Romans 4:5).
Jesus Christ, the God-Man
has removed the barrier of sin. His death paid the penalty for our sins and
His resurrection made eternal life possible.
Principle #4 is
your response to God.
TRUST IN CHRIST ALONE.
The Bible says, "Believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts
16:31).
“The word believe, means
trust. It is taking God at His word. You must depend on Christ alone to forgive
you and to give you eternal life”.
(THE CHAIR ILLUSTRATION)
“It is like sitting in a
chair. You don’t examine how it was built before you sit down in it. You
don’t half way sit in it either, putting only half your weight in the chair.
You simply trust the chair knowing that it will hold you up.
Believing on Christ means you are trusting Him alone to save you."
"For
God so loved the world (you),
that
He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever
(
______________________ )
(say
the name of the person your witnessing to
)
BELIEVETH
IN HIM (Jesus Christ)
should
not perish, but have
everlasting
life"
(John
3:16).
"If you can put your name
in the blank space above, on the authority of God's word, you can KNOW
you have eternal life."
(THE AIRPLANE ILLUSTRATION)
“Trusting in Christ for
eternal life is like boarding on a Jet. The moment you step on the plane –
you’re trusting your destination to the pilot. If your going to Dallas – you
have to trust in the pilot to get you there.
The same is true with Christ. If we expect to go to Heaven it will only happen
when we put our faith in Christ. He died on the cross to pay for all of our
sins. Now, He wants us to trust Him alone to get us to Heaven.
"
"Verily, verily
(Truthfully, Truthfully), I say unto you, He that believeth
on Me hath (Possesses Now) everlasting life" (John
6:47).
“Do you believe this verse?”
(Yes)
“What does it say you have if
you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?”
(Everlasting Life)
"These things have I
written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may KNOW
that ye have eternal life,,," (I John 5:13).
“What does it say you have if
you believe on the Son of God?”
(Eternal Life)
"Can a person KNOW that he
is going to Heaven?"
(Yes)
"How do you know you have
eternal life?
(Because I believe in Jesus
Christ for eternal life.)
Principle #5 is
God's promise to you.
SALVATION IS ETERNAL.
The Bible says, "And
I give unto them eternal life and they shall never
perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand" (John
10:28).
“If you are trusting
Christ to save you – this verse says no one can make you lose your eternal
life. I can’t take you out of God’s hand. Your friends can’t take you out
of God’s hand. Satan can’t take your salvation from you.”
“Eternal Life is forever!
The reason Salvation is Eternal is because of “Who” and “What”
God is. He is God. He is perfect,
and His word is truth.”
Will you accept God's way
and receive God's gift of eternal life?
"But as many as
received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on His name" (John
1:12).
“Notice that the way you
receive Christ is by believing on Christ."
Doesn't it make sense to
believe on the One who came back from the dead and trust Him for the payment of
your sins?
Ask the “Qualifying
Question” –
“Does this make sense to you?”
(Yes)
After they say
“yes” – Ask the “Invitation Question” –
“Since this makes sense to
you, would you like to receive Christ as your Savior?”
(Yes)
“Great!”
Ask the
“Decision Questions” –
“Does this prayer express
your desire to trust in Christ?”
(Yes)
"Would
you like to pray and thank Him for dying for you and for giving you eternal
life?"
(Yes)
Lead the person in this simple
prayer of thanksgiving. You may want the person to
repeat it after you, or you can let the person pray it by himself.
"Dear Lord, I know I
am a sinner and need your forgiveness. Today, the best I know how, I
trust you as my Savior. I believe you died for me and arose from the dead. Thank
you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Amen."
Look the person in the eye
and ask the “Exploratory Questions” in the reverse order.
“Suppose you were to stand
before God and He asked you, “Why should I let you into Heaven?” What would
you say?”
(Because I have trusted in
Christ to save me.)
“If you died today, Do you
know for sure that you will go to Heaven?”
(Yes)
“Welcome to God’s
Family!"
The next step is for you to
help the person to grow in his new life with Christ.
Set an appointment with the person so you can share more information about the
Christian life.
